Vikings-Buccaneers Recap: The Keenum King

The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings doubled up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers...The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings doubled up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-17 Sunday afternoon at Historic US Bank Stadium. The theme of the day was "Unlikely Heroes" as Case Keenum had the best game of his career, leading the Vikings offense in the absence of Sam Bradford. Plus the Zimmer Hellfire Defense got Turnover Party 2017 (finally) started forcing Jameis Winston into three interceptions. An all-around great performance and the type the team needed to snap the squad and fanbase out of an early season funk.

- Case Keenum Silenced a Lot of Critics
- Pat Shumur Called a Helluva Game
- Dalvin Cook Ate

The swashbuckling Tampa Bay Buccaneers will try to commander Historic US Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings attempt to right the ship and stay perfect at home. To help preview the clash upon the high seas.... Okay... Enough pirate references. We brought in ESPN NFL Nation's Buccaneers reporter Jenna Laine (@JennaLaineESPN) to dissect Tampa Bay and their approach to stopping the Vikings on Sunday. Plus (for entertainment purposes only) Joe Duffy (@OffshoreInsider) called in to elaborate on the betting differences between Sam Bradford and Case Keenum starting at quarterback and also a look at the rest of the NFC North's games and lines. And of course Five Things on a Friday we're looking for in the upcoming game.
The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings are gearing up to try and prevent the 2017 season from becoming clown shoes. I have some choice thoughts on the current quarterback situation (including if the Purple can make the playoffs with Keenum starting multiple games) and outline when the perfect time for Teddy Bridgewater to start if Sam Bradford is unable to. Plus the Happy Hour Half Hour (aka Vikes Over Beers) is back with Josh Pelto (@JoshPelto) and Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman) joining me at The Blue Door Pub to chat about the current 1-1 squad and how they can get it done Sunday versus Tampa Bay.
Light a candle for Sam Bradford's knee, Vikings fans. For today's show we busted out Tell The Truth and laid out five factual(ish) Minnesota Vikings talkers including the near future with Case Keenum, how we may see Danny Isidora sooner rather than later, and why Rick Spielman's job isn't as secure as you may think. Plus @JReidDraftScout (Vikings Territory) swings in for his weekly segment and we do a deep dive on the troubles with Trae Waynes and look ahead to the solid Tampa Bay Buccaneers team rolling into Historic US Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
What is it with Minnesota Fightin' Vikings quarterbacks and knees? For the latest on Sam Bradford's banged up left knee, we brought in the big guns with Darren "Doogie" Wolfson (@DWolfsonKSTP) of KSTP Sports and The Scoop Podcast. Doogie and I chatted about the latest rumblings around Bradford's injury, how many games Case Keenum could start and the team still make the playoffs, iif the Vikings had inquired about other available quarterbacks, and how Teddy Bridgewater coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list plays a part in this 2017 Greek tragedy. Plus some Tramaine Brock, Michael Floyd, and Alex Boone tidbits.
The previously undefeated Minnesota Fightin' Vikings saw their winning-streak snapped in Pittsburgh by the Steelers 26-9 on Sunday afternoon. Case Keenum did his best Case Keenum impression in place of an injured Sam Bradford and the Vikes made too many mental errors and penalties to stay in the game in their first road test of the season. That sound you heard was fan expectations crashing back to Earth.

Today's Talking Points Include:
- The Case Keenum Effect
- Penalties Were Murder
- Defense Kept This a Game, But...
- Offensive Line Still Needs Work
- Stefon Diggs is a Leader
- Everson Griffen is a Man
- The Cornerback Discussion
- Special Teams Snaffus
- Odds and Ends
- Twitter Questions

With the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings prepared to descend upon the Steel City, we brought in Bleacher Report Steelers writer and friend of the program Andrea Hangst (@FBALL_Andrea) to discuss the upcoming Week 2 fracas on the banks of the Three Rivers. Plus Jordan Reid (@JReidDraftScout) of Vikings Territory swings by for his weekly appearance and drops some knowledge about how the Zimmer Hellfire Defense can put the brakes on the Steelers and the Triple B's.
The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings have their first big road test coming up Sunday as they make a pilgrimage to the Mighty City on the Three Rivers to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. To preview the opposition, we brought in Steel City apologist Jon Ledyard (@LedyardNFLDraft) of FanRag Sports and the Locked on Steelers Podcast. Jon and I discussed the key Black & Yellow (Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow) weapons the Vikings will need to dismantle to pick up a big statement win on the road. Later on in the show, the Happy Hour Half-Hour (aka Vikes Over Beers) is back with Josh Pelto (@JoshPelto) kibitzing about re-calibrating expectations for this year's Purple crop.
To help breakdown WHY the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings got off to a fast start on the 2017 campaign, we brought in Shawn Zobel (@ZobelSports) of 1500 ESPN's Football Headquarters Podcast. Shawn and I talked about if Sam Bradford's Week 1 play was legit or just a mirage, why Dalvin Cook is the real deal, how the offensive line improved from recent campaigns, what's possibly keeping Laquon Treadwell from being a contributor, Adrian Peterson being washed, and why the Zimmer Hellfire Defense is Super Bowl caliber.
The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings defended their home domicile Monday Night turning back the New Orleans Saints at the gates of Historic US Bank Stadium in a convincing 29-19 victory. Former Viking Legend Adrian Peterson was held in check, while rookie running back Dalvin Cook broke records. The Purple recovered from a listless and lethargic preseason to kick the 2017 campaign off with a statement win. 19-0 in my opinion.

Today's Talkers Include:
Slingin' Sam Bradford!
Dalvin Cook's Debut
Stefon Diggs Go BOOM!
The Offensive Line Was ________.
The Zimmer Hellfire Defense is Back
Welcome Back Anthony Barr
Trae Waynes Wasn't Terrible?
Adrian Peterson is Old and Bad
Is This Sustainable?
Odds and Ends
