Action park media. Oh, OK. I thought this podcast needed a little Matthew in it. So I asked him to come on. He's sitting here with me right now and I just wanted to talk about just a little bit with this game and what it meant to him. So, yeah, here we go. How do you focus with 20 plus houseguests for a game? I don't know. I'm used to it now. Lucky enough, all of our houseguests were people I didn't feel like I need to entertain. So I just went up and got a two and a half hour nap on a Saturday and stayed away from them. So a pretty typical Saturday, considering you sleep every Saturday, you're here. Yes. All right. Obviously, I feel like everyone's wondering like emotions. I felt I said that it was tough and half the time I get confused watching the lions play, thinking it was, you like watching the play develop and then realizing, Okay, that's not our team anymore. Going into that game, I know you said it was another game and that's that is true. But like emotionally when you saw the forwards or when you saw just old teammates, what was going through your mind? I was less confused about whether or not I was playing for the lions than you were there, fully realizing I played for them. But before the game, it was good. I got to see some buddies and saw Sheila in. So Sheila, and that's what was. That's Sheila HAMP, which is a forward for those people. That was the principal owner at the moment. And so Rod Woods, Elton saw a bunch of people that, you know, known for a long time but really didn't get too deep into it before the game, as you know, probably more after the game his game was ending that I talked to. Most of the teammates are of mine that, you know, just that I had spent some time with and played with. It was it was great to catch up with them and see a bunch of young guys that were either early on in their career, practice, squad guys or whatever. I kind of seen developing in Detroit and now they're playing on Sundays is pretty cool. So yeah, it was wasn't ultra like emotional, just like good to see your buddies. I saw the long embrace of Elton. Yeah, which I also shared one of those, too. Yeah, he's the best. So the letters you had old teammates write you letters. Yeah, some more funny than anything else. They're there. Yeah, they're all funny, funny and good, all at the same time. Mule blow Dick Frank. The mayor brought me one as well. So, uh, pretty good. All right. Well, emotionally, you were just, you know, I know it was not easy, but it was a game. Once the game started, it was playing ball. Yeah, and glad to have it over with. Yeah, I'm just it's good to play, get a win and just so happened to be against the old team. But I said this to like you getting your 300th TD pass against them. With all of those Lions fans, there is pretty cool considering they witnessed 200 and I heard many of them. Yeah, oh great. Yeah, that's cool. And seeing all the nine jerseys. Yeah, I didn't expect that, but it was kind of a cool deal, you know, made me emotional. Love that place. Yeah, no, no. All right. Well, I just wanted to get a quick little bite. OK, love you. Bye bye. All right. Welcome back to the morning after another awesome weekend in the books. Joining me today, if you guys don't know him, is Hank Winchester. He is literally my everything when it comes to, I don't know, a friend. He I trust him. He knows all my secrets. I trust him with everything. And yeah, he's with me today all the way from Detroit. So welcome. I love it. This is big time, girl. I'm like, I'm kind of blown away because I mean, remember the first podcast I was just laying on the floor of your guesthouse when you did it? Yes. If anyone watched that or listened to it, he was the rapid fire questions that solely were based around basically Madonna and Britney because that, you know, kind of my world. Yeah, and he was the one laid on the floor in the background if you watched it. We've upgraded since then. Yeah, this is big time. Yeah, it feels good, right? Yeah, I like it. And just a little background on Hank, like Hank is from Michigan, has two daughters married to Jeff. He is an investigative reporter for Channel four. Help me, Hank back in Michigan. So excited. He's here. I actually at the beginning of this, we were like trying to co-host, but it didn't work out, unfortunately. Yeah. Now I have to. I'd have to watch my language. This is my actually my. Is this my third time out here since y'all moved? Yeah, God, I know you're you're my goodness. That's a long flight. It's a long flight. What a pain in the a*s. But you know what? Thank God. I mean, I'm good for this. If you were to ended up like in Buffalo, we may have ended the friendship. We're trying to say what I'm like. Yeah, and forget it. Don't want to come visit. So this weekend was so fun. We had a big crew in every year. We do like a friendship, and I made sure that the Detroit game this year was the friend trip solely because these people, all the friends that were in town for high school college, have been supporting us since the beginning. And I. Really just wanted them all there for this game. It was so fine. It was wild. Yes, I mean, we'll get into the bus ride after the game. It literally felt like a kegger after a wedding. That's just how the bus felt. But that game itself and we got to talk about the tailgate. I could not believe how many Lions fans were there. There were so guys, we set up a tailgate and right next to our tailgate was a crew of, like, I don't know, 100 lions. Yeah. And they had a, I mean, the set up they had made us look pretty country. We literally had like lawn chairs from CVS. These people were not had Kvyat wherever these people had televisions like everything and Ali rolls up with like a box of burrito said they were delicious. Yeah. Don't don't be on the product, OK? Heads the kettle on. But they were so he doesn't get a. They were so nice to. So except let's let's break it down. You walking through a tailgate like that is like a, you know, I've got a, you know, just oppose it to Madonna. People who literally lose their minds and they see you because it's like, you know, you're a big, big deal like feel like an extension of Matthew. And so they were so excited to see you and so kind. They were all, yes. And that's the great thing about the Detroit people. They're so happy for Matthew. Yeah. And that game was, you know, had a ton of emotions going into it even the whole week before and then really getting there and seeing all the Lions fans that made their way to California wearing Matthews jersey, coming up and saying, You know, we want our lions to win, but we are really rooting for Matthew for a Super Bowl. I mean, it gets my heart racing, even talking about it because it means more than they could ever imagine, because that is that was our home for 12 years. And I say this all the time went there when I was 19, grew up there. Like I, I would say those are my those 12 years would be the most influential in my life. Yeah. Than any other time period. Yeah. So like that makes it feel it's so significant. Just see, it was it was incredible seeing the support that Matthews still receiving from Lions fans and not that their loyalty is not the Lions because everyone said We're rooting for the Lions. But we do hope to see Matthew really succeed, and I did love that. Matthew scored his 300th touchdown with all those Lions fans in the stadium because they saw the first 200 or so many. Yeah, so yeah, it was truly special to just walk around and I did. I made a point to get there early and looked at all. The girls was like, All right, let's go on a walk because I just want to kind of like, go through the crowd a little bit and see and the amount of lions people there. Yeah, I mean, there had to be 30 40000 because you could tell by the roar of the crowd, Yeah, that was crazy. Well, you had a little time with the Fords too, right? Yes. So before I get there, I made my way into the stadium. I wanted to make sure there I was there early, so I left everyone behind at the tailgate with the burritos, with the burritos and the vodka, which is not a bad setup. So yeah, it got the job done, which is all that matters. We had people fed in and served, so it was great. But yeah, so I walked in and I actually walked by myself, put my head down kind of just like made my way in because I did want to see the Fords and everyone who meant so much to me that works for that organization. So I was walking in and this one, and I might be this one woman stops me as I'm trying to figure out where to go for the sideline pa*s. So she stops me and she says, Oh, you're you're Kelly Soffer. I was like, I am. She's in her lions gear, right? And she's like, You know, do you? Do you miss it? And I feel like everyone's surprised by my answer with this. Yeah, when I say yes, they're like, Wait, really? Am I because they can? A person can't like think to themselves, like, Detroit's a great place. Know. And it truly is. And talking to Sam Martin, we we have a mutual friend, Sam Martin, who is a punter for the Denver Broncos right now. And he was here because they had a short by and talking to him. He says people are always surprised when he says he misses it. Yeah, we really. But there's truly a just like genuine feeling about that place. And it's it's hard to put into words. The people are incredible. Everyone just like it's easy life, a lot easier like, but it's just the it just feels easy. It feels comfortable. They they take, they take care of their people. Detroiters take care of their people. And that's a huge testament to the city and a huge testament to to Matthews, who was talking with them about this, like last week. I can't even remember how it got brought up, but he was like the fact that fans in Detroit are cheering for him and want the best for him, but he gave the best answer. He's like, It's not about me that that speaks to the people of the city and you know how they operate. I literally have chills talking about it. Yeah. So yeah, I see something. I have chills. When you were saying that everyone is coming up to you being like, We want Matthew to win a Super Bowl, even though they're Lions fans. I'm from Philly. Philly, people do not do that. That truly makes me get a grasp for what the people of Detroit. It is, girl. They are second to none. I can't even explain to you the support that you like if you play a sport. Even if you're not good lions, we're not yeah, they still just rally behind you. And again, with my brain tumor and everything that I went through, like really felt it more than, you know, not just for Matthew, but for myself and my family during that time. Just, you know, felt it so. Anyways, walking in Ran is this girl she's going to play, sorry, where do you miss it? Yes, she was like, really is a yeah, she goes, Well, I guess that place did kind of save your life. Wow. And like, I like, took a step back and it did like, it is so wild to me to not while the like emotional I felt she was like, Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. And I was like, It has nothing to do that, but you're so right. Yeah, like the the loneliest time in my life when I was diagnosed, that brain tumor, I mean, I was I just felt surrounded by those. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And and it it is, it's like a big family. And so I got emotional with this. And now she's probably like, I wish I never could have stopped her. She wanted to like, kill. I'm so I'm so sorry. Say sorry. She's like, Am I allowed to give you a hug? Is it? Oh, now I'm like, Please, anyways, so it was. Oh, that was right before I went down to the fourth. Yeah. So honestly, I was like, Well, thank goodness that I got that off my plate because I got this series out of the way. Yeah, and I did. I went down to the sideline and ran into Sheila Ford or Sheila HAMP and her husband, and they we talked for a while. I mean, we just really, to be totally honest, just caught up. Yeah. And obviously, they are extremely happy for Matthew. And they said that and I again thank them for for the way everything happened. Yeah, I think it was really big on them, you know, and it could not have played out any better. No. And it's really when you speak volumes to the people they are. And I know it was like a good like they got a lot out of Matthew trading him, so it was good for them to. But it is like seeing your the family that you were with forever long and you maybe like, I don't know, you move and you come back and it's kind of like this reunion. Yeah, that's emotional. Exciting all the same times. But then you're like, Well, we're on opposing sides now. Sure, which which is hard, but couldn't have been nicer. We really I asked about Detroit. I was like, So is it like the fall or are we like, are we winter? Which, like, depends on the year in Detroit as to respond? That's a big right now. We're still like, happy with cider mills and pumpkin. Oh that crap. Give it two months and you want to blow your brains out right now. It's all wonderful and the best time of the year. The I love it. I think it's awesome. It's beautiful there. Yeah. How did you two initially meet? Oh God, I, we talk about this all time, do you remember? Not really. But it's it's it is. Sam Sam's the connector? Yes. So Sam is my best friend, and I met him like in 2013. Probably, and then met you. I mean, when we met, nobody was mayor. We didn't know we neither were married young kids. I mean, that's a totally different that's kind of our lives. I know. No, now you have like forty seven children and it's just it's it's unreal. You know, life is just so like we just connected like, right? You know, you meet people and you're like, and those are your people. And like Matthew and I just clicked right away and then, yeah, it just it was it was just natural. Hank is very likable person. I just met Hank and I love Hank and we're best friends. Yeah, yeah, that's great. Have you ever been to Detroit? I have been to Ann Arbor. Okay, so I pass through Detroit. Yeah, Detroit's awesome. It's a good spot. And it's like night and day different from when when you moved there, when we left. You know what? Here's what I thought was interesting yesterday. Remember the first game, the home opener here? I was literally having a panic attack, just being around you because I could feel your energy. She wouldn't eat. I hardly talked. You were very, very nervous. I felt like yesterday you were better. But it's still that that's not a game you wanted to lose yesterday, did you? How did you like handle that? Especially because I know that's not something that you sit around and talk with Matthew about because he keeps things, you know? Yeah, it's just a game. That's what he'll say. But it was not just, you know, it's not. And you know it, and I'll get into it in a second. But this game meant a lot to Matthew and I, both of us, it was something that, you know, we'll always remember, like the first game playing the team that you were with forever. And he again came out, media said it was just another game. It was not just another game for him. There were emotions that went into it and walking in. So obviously a game we did not want to lose. Yeah, and it was there in the you and everyone kept saying, Oh, you know, we're going to they're going to put 60 points on and whatever. And I kept looking if people saying, when you have emotions playing into a game on both sides, it wasn't just Matthew. Yeah, yeah. And when you have nothing to lose, you're very dangerous. Yeah. And they played like that. They played. They threw every trick in the book at us. I was crazy. It was crazy. It was like watching a video game has and and then you're in this insane stadium, which is in itself is a video game. But yeah, I was so impressed with the Lions because many people were expecting this is going to be a complete blowout. Yeah, it was not. No, it was not. You know, I want my line to do well, but for me, it was, you know, I'm there to support one of my best. That's what it's about was my team, but I could not believe all the little tricks that were point you turn your back to like, you know, grab a good and you're like, What the hell just happened? I'm not going to say they scored that first touchdown, which was a screen pass for 84 yards, and I was really well done for a start for me. I don't even know talking about is that like the second play of the game, is that when one guy catches the ball? Don't you worry about a that hangs football is very, you know, he's he's he's not a football fan. He's more of a model of himself. But yeah, so I turned I went to the bathroom because I was like, We're going to kick it out. They're going to kick it off. And I came back out and they had the ball again. Yeah, for my answer. Anyways, it was wild and we didn't we? We did not want to lose that game, and this podcast would have been crazy if our night would have been very different. Yes. What a game. I'm actually scared for a morning after episode, after a loss. I haven't seen it yet. Knock on wood, but I'm sure we've had one because Arizona, which I don't really know what I talked about that might have been like the IVF, but that wasn't in here. No, no was not here. It was at home. I literally had like, I'm not even joking, like a Plan B last night. I'm like, OK, if there's a blowout and the Rams lose, I might just change my flight. I'm not going back to that house. Yeah, I don't want you now. You've been around it. Yes. But I mean, I can remember so many Detroit Games, you know, when they were horrible and Matthew would be so injured, but he'd still tax and he'd be like, Hey, you want to grab dinner? And like we would, but like he'd have his body taped together and like, he just wouldn't say much. And like those, those, those were tough. Yeah. And there were a lot of them. Yeah, there were a lot of them. So that that that was hard. But yesterday, you know, we we end up pulling out that win, which is awesome and real quick, too. So I talked to Sheila and her husband. I also got to see Elton, who was the security guy there and meant the world to Matthew and I. He was the long embrace. If you watched the end of the game, the long embrace that Matthew had was with Elton. He also was the one who dropped me and my kids off at the airport and walked us through security as we were leaving Michigan. So they have a huge part of my heart that whole place. So it was so good to see everybody. And then obviously the game happened while game really fun to watch, but like at the same time, like what the hell? Yeah. Yeah. And after the game, so quick. Funny story we had one friend come in from Paris. Oh yeah. So we had a guy on it for the game. Yes, yes. And Detroit people obviously will know him. Kristen? Yeah. Kristen. So he played for the Lions. Yeah. So he actually caught that one pass in, you know, never mind. So nobody comes in. He's six five, six five, and we think Matthew doesn't know he's there. And he hasn't seen Matthew in like two years, and he was one of Matthew's best friends. He's Matthew's roommate college. All the stuff. Yeah. So we're like, All right, we're going to dress up as a sweet host. They took literally the clothes off. This guy's back. His name's Cody. Cody, he was wonderful. Who's great? Took his clothes off him. Put them on. Chris, put Cody's nametag on Chris, a mask and a hat, and he pretended to be the suite attendant. Now he's six five. He's not there. It's hard to write this book. It's not going to blend with anything. So Matthew comes in, he's a little beat up, but he's happy. He's really pumped to see everybody who's there. And, you know, in the background, Chris has like a broom and is cleaning acting like he's cleaning up and he walks by Matthew, and we're all kind of watching to see what happens. And Matthew does this like take like the double take. Like, wait, wait, right? And he was like, Holy s**t. Yeah. Like, what the hell, man? I mean, two years it was cute. Congo, I have a video in from a post, but Cody sure was literally like a belly shirt on gra*s. And Matthew recognized it right away. We're like, There's no way he'll figure this out. But anyways, cute story. So after that, we sit down Matthew and I and everyone's kind of in the sweet and I were by ourselves for, I don't know, five minutes and just kind of talking about the emotions that went into that game. So like, what did he like? I know he's, you know, usually kind of, you know, not one to expound, you know, too much, but what was his like general gut reaction right after the game? So did you get a sense of relief? For sure, OK. I think he was happy that game was over with OK. I think there was a lot of like, you know, just word articles and everything coming out before, and he's just happy. It's done. Yeah. And as we were sitting there, he just kind of was like, I said that, you know, there wasn't much in this news like being out there and like seeing my, you know, the jerseys I played for 12 years. Yeah, it was way harder than I thought. It was going to be interesting. And he's like, I had to like, finalize it, like in the, you know, when they were reviewing that last interception, he went over to the guys on Detroit defense that, you know, he's known for a while and was chit chatting with them. And he said his guys in the Rams huddle were like, Hey, you done? I'm going to come back to this, I know. But you know that it's so funny and cute, and he did. He was like, I'm so happy to get that win scene. He's all Sheila. He saw Elton, all the people that meant so much to him. It was real impressed, too, with the live show because people didn't expect that. Yeah, for sure he was. He was just like a lie. He was like, Am I ever going to get the ball? Or there's going to onside kick the whole gate? Like, what's going to happen here? Yeah. So he was impressed, for sure. Yeah. But you know, it was just a lot went into that game. And I think afterwards he was kind of emotionally drained, physically drained. He was a little banged up, but was grateful it was over with and and really honestly, I asked him, like, did you notice the all the number nines? Yeah, the lions are nine. He was like, I couldn't believe it. I forgot to ask him last night, and maybe, you know, but did he I know he had a quick interaction with golf, but was there anything like, Oh man, you know, I don't know, like, what do you say to him? Yeah. You know, like, sorry, you're on the struggle bus right now? No. You know, it's tough. I don't I didn't ask that. And I don't think, you know, I think it's probably like Pro. Yeah, keep going and keep pushing. And that's what that's what, Matthew. And if and if you do keep pushing in like the city will take care of you, like give you, oh yeah, I don't worry about, yes, he will be. He will be. We've just clearly got to get something together there in rebuilding phase. Yeah, they really are. So that's OK. Married and Matthew met outside of on a football field. Yes, they have. So this is actually a good story. So Matthew turned 30. We rented a house in Malibu for all of these same friends I became this past weekend. We went to some place called Bungalow. Oh my god, it's the best. OK. Years ago, this is when you just got drafted, Jared, and we met him there. And I remember the Rams. Kelly, I was there. No, you weren't. I remember I was at Jared's table and they were like, Matthew Stafford has a table right next to us. We were all under that. Yes. OK, so you were there? Holy s**t. Small world. Yeah. So that was we met him or he met him there. I mean, it's such a nice guy and was pumped that he got drafted by his home team. Sure. Yeah. Awesome. Yeah. So we met. I don't know how many years ago that was, but super kind, whatever, and then have had any communication until trade went through which we, you know, I communicated some with Jared's girlfriend, and I think Matthew and him communicate some as well just to kind of give them like, you know, the rundown a little bit of that place of Michigan because it's awesome if you, you know, if you know how to really embrace it. So but you haven't really had like, it's not like you connect a lot and talk to him since the season started, like, hey, you see in L.A., it's not like that. And I don't I don't think, yeah, it's casual. So, yeah, I don't think anything was really said game with that. And then so we, you know, magic comes up this week. We do this whole thing and we get on the bus. Oh my god, y'all. I mean this. I'm not. Well, right now, I need a wellness check. OK. So everyone again flew in lots miles to be here, including one from Europe. So we are in the mood to have the time of our lives like we're back in, I don't know, college. And I look at Matthew because I know he's tired and I know he's banged up and all. We're all kind of like music's on dance and having a good time, and I'm like, I know you're exhausted, but like, please, China is like, Oh no, it's like, This is what it's about. He's like winning. Believe me, like success. Amazing. But having like your best friends here to share it with? Right? This is the moments that these are the moments that I that I look like I love and I look for. And so he got out there and getting after it. Yes. And I loved it because he doesn't normally do. I know what he does through because he's normally just a little bit more subdued after a game. But I mean, he was he turns I mean, he was, yeah, he was. He was living it. And I think for all of us, you know, it was just there was a sense of relief, I think, after the game, just like I told you yesterday, the first game Rams game that first touchdown, I felt like after that happened, then I took a breath. Yeah, I'm like, OK, this is how it is like he's back in Seattle. Like, I get it, you know? And last night, I just felt like, Oh my goodness, this game is over, OK, someone give me a drink. Yeah, that's a splash. Give me a splash, which is a vodka soda splash of cream for all of you, and we should like trademark that. I think I think what's her name? Bethenny Frankel and Brody Jenner like they already did, but it's somebody they're going to buy some splash from a dude in Detroit. Now they own the market on it. Wow. A splash. I'm here for it. Yeah, so we do the bus we go to. What is the nice guy was, yeah, it was delicious. But I feel like even when we got there, everyone was like, I kind of wish we just ordered pizza to the bus. Yeah, that bias was because it was so weird, just having so much fun, and I might post a video or two from the bus. Please do not. I have a really good one to think, and Matthew knows I'm obsessed with Kygo. And when that s**t hits, I lose my mind like I become a different person. It's not the person I enjoy, but it happens. It was so far, and so we we, you know, do dinner, get back on the bus, head back home and you can tell like our group friend hadn't been together in a while. And when this because of COVID and all that, when that tends to happen, we don't want to go to sleep. Yeah. So Matthew went into his office. It was like, You guys want to come watch game film, guys. All of us are sitting in Matthew's office and we are watching the game that was just played that we just watched. And I was like, I don't know if I really want to watch this again. Yeah, no, I wouldn't want to. Yeah, I'd be like, Can we watch Housewives? Right? But we did. We sat there and we went through plays. It was comical. Even the women were in there. We are just all having a good time, it's just so good to catch up. I'm sure as everyone kind of feels like you haven't seen people in so long because of COVID. Yeah. You know, once you're all together, it was. It's just it's fine. You know, it's it's a good feeling and and it's a it's a weekend that Matthew and I every year look forward to and and really try to take it all in because we don't get to see our friends that much. Yeah, sure. We're all over the place. What's so funny, I think too, is like so many of my guy friends that if they were like, Wait a minute, so Matthew Stafford wants to sit down with you and watch game film and like, they would lose their mind. I don't want to do that. And I'm like, No, Matthew and I never talk about football. We talk about like, jeopardy. Yeah, you wouldn't have liked how the night ended Hengdian stay. I think, yeah, I went back. I left with Sam. Yeah, that was a whole nother thing. So I'm sure that was fun. But yeah, and I and I do want to say, like these friends again are the ones that we've had since high school and college, and I really do think they keep us us. Yeah, especially we are living in L.A. now. I'm a little worried. I don't know. Do you think you're going to hop on that train? What train? You know, like you move to L.A. and then all of a sudden like people ask me that about you specifically. I mean, do you not know us? I say, Listen, of course, I'm like, Listen, they've been the same people that I've known them for 10 years and nothing's changed. But of course, there's this idea that you moved to California and that's happened, that people flip. He never would. But and you also live in an area that is, you know, there's a lot of celebrities in your neighborhood there. And one of Hank's favorites is in our neighborhood, and he freaks out. Madonna is in her neighborhood and I legit stalk her. Can I tell him that the Kylie story? Yes. So Kylie lives across the street, and when they first got the house, like in May, we came out like a few weeks later, Jeff and I did, and the front of it. Matthew Kelly's has a big glass door and two glass windows on each side of it, and I just would sit there with my face like smeared up to the window, like watching every movement at her house because it's I've never seen so many G-Wagon. It looks like the damn girl has a car dealership. They're moving all over the place or security walking around. And so I'm face up on this window and Matthew is like, Hey buddy, and I'm like, Hey, could you want to look over the other window that's tinted so you don't look like a freak to my neighbors? And I'm like, Oh my god, yeah, I had no idea. Literally just the Peeping Tom from our front door. I'm like, Do you just not view these people? But, you know, maybe L.A. would change you, but it's fantastic because you say that they're delightful. Oh, can you tell them about Kris? Oh, by the way, if I do market my viscous flash, you're going to hire. I got to get in with those Kardashians so they can sell anything. So I know, and we talked about this where like, regardless of how you feel about the Kardashian-Jenner clan, you have to give a lot of props to Kris Jenner because she is a boss b***h like that woman has taken. I mean, made her daughter her whole family and family after that and family out to that field. I mean, they're set for life for four, 20 times lives like our many great I don't know. But you just met her. I just met her. Yes. So we were packing the bus up to go to the game on Sunday morning. This was early and her and her boyfriend, Corey, were driving by and stopped. I know Corey is a big Rams fan, stopped and rolled on the window and just said, you know, this super kind she she knew about my girls and, you know, was like, I love your Halloween decorations, which if you listen to the podcast or seen my podcast thing, you've seen the Halloween decorations. And I was like, I'm so glad that you love the obnoxious decorations. It's a scene. Yeah, it is, because that makes it worth it. Kris Jenner saying she loves the Halloween decoration here. Yes, I like Kris. Can you sell these things? How can we make money off this giant pumpkin? When Sam and I rolled up to the house to watch football with you guys like, we turn the corner and Sam hadn't been to your house yet. Yeah. And I'm like, It's right there. And he's like, Are you kidding me? I'm like, You know, this is Matthew letting this happen? I've never it literally looks like Halloween USA exploded in front of the best. It is a tequila. If I get the OK from Kris Jenner, I'm cool. Well, they would have some decorations, but you really are very classy and Madonna has nothing. She's probably not. So, yeah, so that was fun. She's very nice. And so is Corey. They're super kind people. And we just said, Hey, and kind of have to move on, but. Should we answer some of the listener questions now? Let's go, yeah, let's do it. OK. Kind of nervous. Let's start with a little bit of a deep one. OK, let's get later as we go on. OK, so Hank, this one's for you. Sure. How did you react when Kelly told you about her brain tumor? I still remember it vividly. She Kelly's not so great with texting, and I got called out on every f**king podcast by texting. Yeah, but she texted me and said, Are you free? I need to tell you something. And I was like driving, and I saw the text come up and she doesn't text that like, that's like, I knew something was up so immediately I thought Matthew had like a bad injury, like something bad happened. And for some reason, I don't know why I like pulled over. And she called me and she told me and I was on the side of a road and I was just like, stunned, stunned. But it all moved so quickly. And again, Detroit and U of M. And what was the doctor's name again? Call Dr. Thompson. God, he's so awesome. Boy, such a blessing that everything played out the way that but yeah, I still remember side of the road some more like like near Milford or something. I don't know. I was there. I literally still remember it was like a gravel road. But yeah, it was. Yeah, I couldn't believe it. And I believe Hank was one of the first phone calls that was made outside of our family. Yeah, yeah. I yeah, that's that is that was a deep question. Thank you so much, Joey. So, yeah, you want to get back to the fun? Sure. OK. How do you tell your twins apart? I cannot tell them I was going to ask Hank and you know your photos? No, I cannot. Yeah. OK, so there is there is not really anything I can like everyone to ask this question. I have no hints for anyone. My biggest what I tell people is they will let you know, like if you call one's lawyers would be like, I'm Chandler. And now they've gotten to the point where they're like, Not nice about it. Yeah, they're hysterical. Like, I'll be like telling you, I'll be like talking to Sawyer or who I think is Sawyer. And I'm like, Listen, like, I'm so proud of you. You're doing great. And she's looking at me and she's like, I'm Chandler. I'm like, So are you? She's like. And she'll just like, Walk away. I'm like, Oh God, I just go, like, Oh, you ! Yeah. Yeah, that's all I got. I think. Good way to do it. Yeah. Yeah, there was. It used to be like a teeth difference, but now that's gone. So there is honestly not really anything that sets them apart right now. Yeah, it's hard. Oh my god. Yeah, it's bad. What was the reason for the boy names or gender neutral names for your girls? I believe it's because she wanted to have a boy. That's actually one of the biggest reasons I wanted it to manifest a boy. I tried yet didn't work. I did. I wanted to be a boy mom. So but my brother's name is Chandler. And I've always loved it for a girl. So I kind of coined that as mine. If I had a girl, actually, my sister tried to take it from me in the delivery room. Oh my god. Yeah, she was like, I had a girl. Can I name or Taylor? Like, f**k, you know? You know, I wanted that my entire life. No. So I actually did say no, and she didn't use it. But yeah, so that's it started with Chandler. And then I was like, Well, I was all like, Keep that trend going. Yeah, I do love. I do love a gender-neutral name for girls. So do I. Yeah. How much is Matthew home during the week? Do you guys get in a lot of family time when it's not his off day? So Matthew does not have an off day. He is a Tuesdays. He does have a little time off in the afternoon. You know, family time is really off season. It happens in the off season. My girls miss the hell out of him. He misses the hell out of the girls. He actually said he yes, that they are coming to the game yesterday with everybody and was like, no. And he was like, When the hell am I going to see my kids like, Oh, I totally get it, but I'm not bringing them with 20 of our friends like that just doesn't sound fun for me. So, you know, family time is limited, but the time we do get, we try and take advantage of it, and he really is good, like sits down and colors with them and such. I've learned so much about being a father just by watching Matthew. I really did. And Scott, I mean, we might be biased, but I truly believe that dude is one of a kind. So he's so patient. Yeah, I know he's annoyingly patient. Yeah, I remember when the twins were first born, like, it was like a week later and we're sitting in the living room and they would not take the bottle or whatever was happening. We were not having it. Yeah, this. Yeah, and he's like, how they're going to eat. Eventually, they'll eat. And I was like, Wow, that's just a great way to think about it. Like, Yeah, things work out. They're going to work out. It's going to be fine for like seven times. That's f**king obnoxious. Sure. I'm sure you got it, babe. I know they're going to eat, but like they have to eat now or the schedule's going to be left for the rest of the night. And I'm going to be up all night and your a*s sleeps through everything as we both know literally can sleep through. I don't. What's like the highest earthquake you can have here? There was one yesterday I heard it was the highest earthquake. I don't know, but they're all terrifying to me. OK, so he probably will sleep through the most terrifying earthquake. Hank, you want to have more children? I do, but I'm too old and I'm tired. So no, no. And my daughter, Emma was a blessing adopted. Can you talk about the process for all this? It's it's a long process. It's an emotional process. We had a few failed adoptions like one. Do you remember when I drove to Kansas? We drove to Kansas. We were match of the family and then they gave birth and then they changed their mind. I drove home with Kelly's car seat with no child. Oh, that one was tough. And then our daughter was born in New Orleans and we got a call that day and they're like a young girl was a baby was just born in New Orleans, and the birth parents who chose you to adopt her. And I flew down there that day. And then I remember FaceTiming with Kelly Matthew and I'm like, Hey, look, we got a baby. I always I didn't tell anybody because I was traumatized from the Kansas event, so I got to New Orleans, made sure everything was OK. Yeah. And then that was that was Jesus testing me to see if I wanted a child because she was born right around Mardi Gras. And you're in New Orleans watching the biggest damn party of your life and your bank loves to get party to. You're in a hotel with a child, and we were down there for like seven weeks. The legal process to play out. So, so so in the legal process to be like, when is it official that that they can't come back? It's different in every single state, OK? Or that in New Orleans, they signed. Essentially, they made her a ward of the state after five days. And I remember that day driving to meet the birth parents to make sure they would sign. And you just want to. I remember that, yeah, I was a nervous wreck and I couldn't talk to anybody. I think Sam was the only person that I was like, kind of like texting to. But yeah, I thought she and the birth mother. They're very sweet. They're young couple. But she sent me a text at like four in the morning of the day they were signing and I saw her name come up and I'm like, She's they're changing their minds. And it was just like, Hey, just checking in on you, I want to make sure you're OK. Like, I was like, Oh, but it's a very long process. It's an emotional process. Unfortunately, it can be a very expensive process for a lot of people. But if anybody ever has adoption questions, I'm more than willing to help people along the journey. It's something thank you. Yeah, so I'm sure people will. And honestly, after my IVF podcast, I have a ton of people that, you know, tried to do the IVF multiple times and it keeps failing and they are looking into the adoption thing now. So if you guys have any questions, y'all should hang up because he's been through the wringer with it through a beautiful three year old daughter named Emma. And she's hysterical. Yes. Yeah, she is good. She misses her little friends. Oh, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know. Yeah, OK. Last question Yeah. So Halloween is this weekend. Is it this weekend? Yeah. Oh, it's Sunday. Yeah, oh man. I yeah. Well, I'm hoping you have an answer. I don't even want to know what the question is. I'm sorry. We'll get to it a minute. This is how you meet Madonna. Your trick or treating? We are. It makes perfect sense. You have to go knock on the door. She'll probably have her gate closed. The gates open all the time. I'm amazed by it. I'm just saying that this is how you meet people you trick or treat. OK, so again, for the people who are wondering if L.A. would change us, we say no, it changed me. But hey, they moved here. We would never see them again. I told her, I said, Listen, girl, bring a fruit basket down to her house, welcome her to the neighborhood when she moved in and how sick you are just. But now trick or treat. OK, I'm sorry. What was the question? I think that's absolutely genius. You guys moving to L.A. has changed Hank's life. Yeah, there you go. That's about right. Yeah, yeah. The question is, what are both of you and the kids being for Halloween? OK, so Matthew plays on Halloween, so you actually won't be here, which is sad. The girls are pissed off about it, but so the girls again want it. All boys and every single one of my girls is a princess. It's a viral. I mean, it is. So it's we have a Cinderella, a jasmine and Ariel and a belle. You know, so. And Matthew was going to be a Prince Charming because I thought that would be cute, but he's not going to be there. What are you going to do? I don't. You know me. I'm not you. I'm not a Halloween person. I know it seems like my decor. I am my decorations, but I'm not really Halloween present. So, you know, I'm probably going to be mom. I'm Emma is going to be Peppa Pig, which she was last year, and we tried to squeeze her into the costume for last year, but it didn't work. So she's Peppa Pig. She gets, she chose. And then Jeff bought these like, gigantic inflatable, like, you know, like dinosaur costume. Yeah, but they're pigs. So we're all pigs. Oh my god, it's so good. I love that. Yeah. So we'll say to so we used to throw the Halloween party for the line. Are you doing that every year? So no, OK, because listen, so here is different as we know. But I guess the person who used to throw the Halloween party or whatever, I don't know who it was like invited like it would be celebrities and performers. And when we did, Halloween party was just solely team. Yeah, no, I never. Yes, I love Hank wasn't invited because he was on the team. Yeah, because it was like a like team bonding like, let's not worry about any outside things right now and just have fun as a team. But I guess here it's different. So I'm contemplating doing a Christmas party for the team, but I just like, I mean, do I invite my neighbors? Like, What? What's happening? I know that's what I'm saying, but that's why, like, I feel like they like expect. And why is there? Are there people on the. Team that you've all really bonded with so far. You know, there's always like. Yeah, and they I mean, they're all great, but yeah, I I don't know the Halloween party is not happening, but maybe we'll do like an ugly sweater, Christmas party or something. Who knows? I can't imagine like McVeigh at a party. Well, usually the coaches aren't invited. That guy's so entertaining to me. He might be invited. He is never McVeigh at a Super Bowl party. His hot girlfriend, maybe now wife, fiance, fiance. Back in a few years ago, Minnesota saw him at the Super Barstool party. Just having good news. There's so much energy and he's young. Yeah, yeah, he's going to be out and about and, well, Beyonce's young, he's just both great. Yeah. Yeah. Hank's been a dinner with McVeigh as well. We have the same birthday. That's true. And he was he's a cowboy out of wearing like, he's just like, I felt like I was in the like. He was like training me for football. It's like he had so much energy. Yeah, so amps that day. You know, I talk about Matthew and yeah, he was he was excited to meet like the people who, you know, mean so much to us and which I love about McVeigh. Like he invest in his players like personal lives, to which I love that we went to. That was also me having a celebrity moment. We went to Nobu in Malibu and I'm like, Y'all realize like Cher lives like. I can't. I literally. I can't take Hank anywhere in L.A.. How do you know? And then we went, I know we went to the abbey. Oh yeah, we did. Oh, OK. So the first time Hank and Jeff came out to L.A., we were like, All right, well, we have to take him to the abbey. The Abbey, which is like an institution in West Hollywood, is like the gay bar. Yes. Yeah. So of course, I mean, Matthew has no issue with it, and we had Steven contrary to. And I mean, I loved it. There were these male dancers that looked, you guys, I will never, ever like. It's the best picture in my phone. But I made Matthew stand up in front of the male stripper and I have a picture of Matthew standing there. And you see, yes, we're in the picture together. And just like Banana Hammock Nude Dude like right by me and says the ba*s. And it's again a reason that we love Matthew as he does not care. It's just like another. Yeah, he's like, Oh, let's do it. Why not? Yeah. And then he was like, OK, I'm ready to go. Like, Yeah, it's time to get it done. Anyways, I was off. I'm sorry, but this weekend was awesome. We're going to wrap this up. We're glad that it's over. Glad that we got the W again. Thank you to everyone who came out from Detroit. There were a lot of you and it means more than you guys know to know that we still have people there rooting for Matthew. And again, a testament to you guys in that city. So just grateful that those went the way it did. It was a fun game. The hectic game. But it was a fun. What's the next game? Uh, well, I'll tell you there's a football game. Yeah, there is on Halloween, Halloween, and it's a way that Texans. Oh, Houston, OK. Oh, Amendola, oh yeah. I Amendola who also I remember one time he was like, all the places I've ever lived. Detroit's my favorite. I'm telling you and the boys he's been around. Yes, he has. I'm I'm if if you've spent like more than a week, they're like, really get able to invest in it a little bit. It's amazing what would be the very first place you'd want to eat because that's I mean, the four of us, when we ate at somebody, you had to go back to Detroit. Right now, you can eat one place, what one place blocks if you like those wings. I f**king love this one. Yeah, they are delicious. All right. All right. Anything else? I think we're good. Good. Anyway, Hank, thanks for coming in on Kelly's show. You were a great addition. This is amazing. Kelly B. I am so proud of you. This is fantastic. I think it's awesome. Guys, make sure you subscribe to the podcast, right? Five stars follow at the morning after Dot. Kelly Stafford, Hank Where can they find you everywhere? Hank Winchester on Instagram.
